How to Make More Money

“How can I make more money?”

This is one of the questions that I’m asked the most. Luckily, there are many ways to make more money, several of which require very low initial investment. So without further ado, here are some legit ways to power up your income without breaking the bank!

1. Teach English to kids online

Teaching English to kids online is one of the fastest and easiest ways to start making extra money from the comfort of your own home. Many companies, such as VIPKid and QKids, require that teachers meet the following requirements:

-Permission to work in the US/Canada

-Bachelors degree in any subject

-1 year or more experience working with kids (teaching, tutoring, coaching, etc)

As far as equipment goes, teachers need up-to-date computers, a solid internet connection and a few props to get started. Pay is typically $16-22/hour, though higher rates can be found for teachers with certifications as well as TEFL/TESOL certificates.

2. Share your skills

What are your passions? What are your strengths? What are you easily able to help others with? Take a minute to think about your passions and skills and once you do that, you can sign up to teach them to children on Outschool.

With classes in math and cooking, to drawing and guitar, the sky is your limit when it comes to sharing your passion with kids on the platform. The sky is also your limit as far as making money goes, considering that teachers set their own fees and retain 70% profits. While teachers are required to have expertise in their subject areas, they are not required to hold teaching certifications or have previous teaching experience.

3. Create online courses

For those who like teaching, but prefer to do so on their own time, creating online courses may be the way to go. Teaching marketplaces like Udemy and Skillshare make it easy to market your courses to students. For those with a larger following and/or those who like to retain more control over their courses, using a platform like Teachable may be a more viable option.

4. Pet Care

Dog walking can be a very lucrative gig, especially in bigger cities. Other options include pet day care and overnight pet sitting. With prices ranging from $45-75/night, this may be quite the gig for pet lovers. You can get started by creating a profile and offering your services on sites like Rover.

5. Open an online store

For those interested in selling unique, hand-made jewelry, stationary, wall prints or t-shirts to name a few, Etsy may be your go-to. Once made, simply take pictures of your items and upload them to the Etsy marketplace to start selling.

For those interested in drop shipping or simply selling other types of items and/or services, setting up your own website would probably be your best bet. The combination of Bluehost hosting and free WordPress website templates makes it easy to create a website for the first time. If setting up your own website still feels like a daunting task, you can choose to go with a platform like Wix which allows you to create a customizable, professional looking website in just a few clicks.

6. Affiliate marketing

Start by thinking about the products you use and love. Do any of them offer affiliate commissions? If you need more ideas, you can search for affiliate products on sites such as Clickbank, Ratuken and ShareASale. Try to find products within your scope of knowledge and interest and then you can either market them to your social media followers and/or create a niche website or blog (in the same ways listed above) to promote your products. This is another great way of generating passive income.

7. Get involved in tech

Some of the most sought after tech skills include:

-UI/UX Design

-Social Media Management

-Digital Marketing

-App Development

-Data Analytics

These types of skills can be learned via free course or at relatively low prices on sites such as Fiverr Learn or Google. Upon course completion, you can list your services and start working as a freelance on Fiverr or Upwork or look for more permanent work on flexjobs.

8. Drive for a rideshare or delivery service

Assuming you already own a car, driving people from one place to another for a rideshare company like Uber or Lyft could be a nice way to earn extra money. For those who would rather deliver items, Uber Eats and DoorDash are other options. The nicest thing about these services is that you can create your own schedule by simply signing into the app whenever you want to work.

While not an exhaustive list, you now have several ideas about how to make more money. It’s time to choose one and get busy. Let us know which have worked best for you!
